New Company Adoption
Overview
New Company Adoption tracks how many unique companies mention a specific keyword in job postings for the first time on a given day. In TickerTrends, this dataset measures when new companies begin requiring, evaluating, or hiring around a skill, tool, or technology.
This makes the metric useful for identifying net-new adoption. Instead of counting every posting, it counts only the first day each company starts mentioning the keyword.
Historical Length
Coverage varies by dataset, but typically includes multiple years of historical job posting data, allowing users to analyze long-term company adoption trends across technologies and industries.
Granularity
Daily data is the default. For each day, TickerTrends counts the number of new unique companies that mention the keyword for the first time in their job postings.
This creates a time series that highlights when adoption is spreading to additional companies in real time.
Update Frequency
Data is typically updated within one week.
Methodology
We scan job postings across a large and diverse dataset and track keyword mentions at the company level. For each company, we identify the first time the entered keyword appears in one of its job postings.
That company is counted once on the day of its first observed mention. Later job postings from the same company that mention the same keyword are excluded.
This approach removes repeat listings and focuses only on new companies entering the adoption curve.
Example Visualization
A time series showing the number of new companies that mention a keyword such as “OpenAI,” “Claude,” “Snowflake,” “MongoDB,” or “ChatGPT” for the first time on each day. Spikes indicate periods where adoption is expanding across more companies.
