# Private Markets

### Overview

**Private Markets** helps users research private companies with the same signal-driven workflow used for public markets. Use it to evaluate demand trends, forecast changes, catalyst activity, and valuation context before a company reports financial results.

### Private-company forecasts

Private-company research includes forward-looking forecast context for covered companies. Review the estimated revenue and implied annual growth to understand the scale and direction of the business.

Coverage includes private AI companies such as **OpenAI** and **Anthropic** where available. Use their forecast, growth, revision, and catalyst context to track changing private-market momentum.

### Methodology

Private-market tracking combines data inputs that reflect each company's business model. These include B2B adoption signals, digital consumer usage, developer datasets, and spend-panel data.

For enterprise companies, adoption signals show how businesses adopt and use products. Spend-panel data shows changes in purchasing activity and contract momentum. For consumer and retail companies, we assess signals that reflect customer awareness, consideration and action patterns.

We interpret these inputs together to estimate business performance across private markets. This approach helps reduce the coverage limits of any individual data source.

### Revisions and historical error

Forecast revisions show how the current view has changed over time. Historical error provides context for evaluating how closely prior estimates aligned with later outcomes.

Use revisions and historical error together. A changing forecast can be more useful when viewed with its historical reliability.

### Valuation and catalysts

Use valuation context alongside business momentum and forecast growth. The catalyst screen helps identify companies with emerging events or narrative shifts that may affect demand, growth, or valuation.

### Universe scope

Use the **Universe** control to define the companies shown in supported screeners:

* **Public** — Listed companies only.
* **Private** — Private companies only.
* **All** — Public and private companies together.

The selected scope applies to the active screener workflow. Available modes and data depend on the user's access level.

### Suggested workflow

1. Select **Private** in the **Universe** control.
2. Screen for forecast growth, revisions, or catalyst activity.
3. Review estimated revenue, implied annual growth, historical error, and valuation context.

Use **All** when comparing private-company signals with public-market peers.
