# Signal Validation

Review demand-signal context for investment research.

### Review signal context

**Signal Validation** organizes available context around a selected signal. It can compare management commentary, social summaries, market-expectation indicators, and KPI context.

Use it to structure further research.

### Validation inputs

Review the signal alongside four sources of context:

* **Management commentary** — Available company communications.
* **Social context** — Available discussion and summary context.
* **Market expectations** — Estimated or consensus context.
* **KPI exposure** — Relevant KPI context where available.

These inputs may support or complicate a research hypothesis.

### Statuses

Signal Validation assigns one of five statuses:

* **Supported** — Available context is consistent with the signal.
* **New Mention** — The signal is newly observed and needs further confirmation.
* **Diverging** — Evidence conflicts across the signal, commentary, social context, market expectations, or KPI exposure.
* **Mixed** — Evidence is present but does not point to a clear conclusion.
* **Not Discussed** — The available management commentary does not address the signal.

### How to use it

1. Start with a demand signal that needs confirmation.
2. Review the status and the supporting context.
3. Compare the signal with relevant KPIs and market expectations.

Use every status as a prompt for deeper research. Statuses are analytical classifications, not confirmation of a fact or prediction.

### Separate from search

Signal Validation evaluates a specific demand signal. It does not replace [Transcript & Social Summary Search](/tickertrends/documentation-v2/4.-features-and-workflows/transcript-and-social-summary-search.md), which helps users discover relevant transcript and social mentions.
