In this section, users can easily discover the hottest trends occurring in real-time. The view is automatically generated for the users and has tens of pages of keywords to explore. The page is meant to be used as a trend discovery tool, helping users spot fast growing keyword searches. This can aid their stock picking experience and help with idea generation. It is very important to note, these keywords are generated without manual input by the user!
In the example above, we navigated to the "Trend" data type, but users can select any data type they prefer. "Trend" and sort by "Percent Increase" are the default settings when a user clicks on the Exploding Trends page.
Users have a 5-year view of how much historical interest a keyword is getting and can decide to analyze any of these terms for their stock discovery research. Users can also edit the "Moving Average" to any value they want applied to the daily data. There is also a "YOY (Year Over Year)" option to convert the plot into YOY values instead.
Users will also notice the default "Mode" is "Normal" but Enterprise Users have access to "Outlier" mode instead which shows abnormal seasonal trends.
This shows the most seasonally abnormal trends that are present in the data and can help with ideation and discovery of tickers for further research. Notice that was Outlier Mode is chosen the sort changes as well to "Outlier Score". This uses a proprietary sorting algorithm TickerTrends' uses to incorporate the search volume of the term as well as the magnitude of outlier from the mean.
On Sort, lastly, there is also an "Alphabetical" option that simply sorts all these charts in alphabetical order.
"Period Increase Percent" shows the time frame that will populate each chart's upper right hand corner value. This especially is useful when sort Percent Increase mode is active, as all the charts will be rearranged to match the new %'s shown.
In this case, we see how the percentages changed when 3 Months was switched to 1 Year.
Users will see that some charts have "Related Companies" below the chart. This uses an algorithm to determine word similarity to a ticker and connects it if the match is high. This can help accelerate the research and discovery process when going through these pages.
Next, there is a "Filter by Watchlist" option. When clicked, it only shows terms you had added linked to stocks that are shown in the "Related Companies" section. This aids the discovery of data values that are changing for companies you track in your active watchlist.
Notice the "Search" option on any given chart. Let's say "roblox download" catches a user's eye and they want to discover related stocks.
The user simply selects "Search" in the top right corner and is led directly to the Analyze Page showing related stocks they can then go ahead and research within the Analyze Page. If they are done looking and want to go back to the page they left off on they simply click "Back" right next to the "Analyze" title. By default, the Period is "3 Months" and Moving Average "1 Day", however, we recommend increasing both the Period and Moving average to get a better idea of the longer term trend of a topic.
This makes for fast trend and stock discovery. If after going back the user decides to do more research on terms similar, they can click on the "Related Terms" and view what context the chosen keyword is being used in commonly online.
In the "Filter by" section, users can filter by "Search", "Percent Increase", or "Current Value".
For "Search", users can type a keyword to see if it's in the dataset. When typing in Search, the Sort functionality instead switches to "Search Similarity", where only the closest matching keywords to the entered term will populate. For example, multiple hundreds of pages of Trends became only 2 pages when "shoes" is searched and all look shoe-related.
For "Minimum Percent", typing "50" for example will only show you keywords rising by more than +50% in the 1 year period chosen. Below, we also see that we can type in any page number on the right side of "Next" to navigate to any page. So users do not need to go through Exploding Trends in order if they don't want to, or get back to a page they left off on. In this case, we navigate to the last page, 117, to see that "Minimum Percent" shows all trends that rose over 50% in the last 1 year.
For "Current Value", users can search for keywords based on the raw last Google Trend value. I.e. typing "95" would indicate that the last datapoint is near the very highs (in the top 5% range) of its 5 year history. This is valuable for finding consumer search trends that are only currently hitting their highest levels of interest ever.
All-in-all the Exploding Trends page is a great place to discover what societal trends are happening without needing to manually search anything yourself to start off!
